Problem started last night. No heating or hot water.

I have shut the system down and re-started it.

I can hear the fan start and the pump start and I hear it click on then off after a second or two. After about ten secs, the over temp light comes on.

I have checked and greased the fan which moves completely free and fast.

Is this down to the overheat thermostat?

Any other suggestions appreciated. Might go to the pub for a warm now.

Cheers Chris for your prompt reply. The wter pressure is ok.
I think I have found a spare stat from an old boiler that my dad keeps as a donour.
Will try that when I get home to see if it is compatible.

In case changing it, what do you mean by replacing it?
