today my husband took up floor tiles in the kitchen by hand (hammer and chisel). The Rayburn was originally installed on these tiles. He has carefully lifted tiles around Rayburn. He removed the bottom front panel to be able to see better. Since then, we have a smell of oil in the kitchen/house. We have both looked for a leak wondering whether he might have disturbed a seal of some sort in the process but can’t find anything.

Any thoughts and comments would be very welcome.

Kerosene stinks with the slightest weep, dry tissue paper is your friend to trace the source. Remember that it flows downwards !
