Hi folks, my oil Rayburn XT was working fine and serviced 3/12 ago. The oven started switching itself off a week ago. It purges fine, burns well for 5-10mins then switches itself off, when reset button pushed then restarts but only for 20 -30 secs. Powerflue working okay. The guy who supposedly serviced it didn't replace the nozzle and so Ive now done this. Its an Ecoflam minor 1 burner. Ive checked all the oil lines and filters, bled all air out of the system - anyone now how to check the Solenoid or solenoid stem, or do I just have to replace them and see if it fixes it? Same question with the photocell? My local Rayburn engineer wants £175 before he take a step over the door and I normally do all my own plumbing / heating so im baulking abit at paying again before he even starts working! Any advice gratefully received.

THe unit is showing signs of a Solenoid coil failure, however some Rayburns have Safety solenoids fitted as well so working out which one it is could be fun, My guess is it will be one directly mounted to the fuel pump (Danfoss BFP) as opposed to a standalone valve
Good Luck! ;)
