RCD operation

Hello,

I'd like to know how an RCD should operate.

Mine tripped once but the mcb remained on the on position.
Is this right? Or should the individual mcb trip as well.

It is correct.

An RCD detects mismatches between current flowing through the P & N conductors

An MCB detects excessive current flow in the P conductor.
