Dangerous guess,

Could the gas supply be routed through the ceiling and bought down to the island in a decorative column. That is assuming gas regulations would permit it. The column being a feature and a place for hooks for kitchen utensils.

If you have water to the island then one can assume there is a drainage pipe from a sink. ( or another problem ). Could that drain pipe be converted to be a duct for a gas pipe and a new smaller ( probably undersized ) drain pipe. Taking into account the need to vent the duct into the open air outside the house..

It's not block & beam construction, it's standard footings, 50mm liquid screed on top of 100mm rigid insulation. Obviously a membrane barrier in between the screed & insulation, and edging strip around the perimeter.

No the UFH does not run under the island. There is electric, water & waste to the island (ran in ducting set in the screed). No pillar.

Do you have a plan of the UFH pipes. Is there a route from the wall to the island that misses the pipes; assuming there is a route through to the centre, then you could use Gasbannis suggestion, and you could bed it into the insulation, and then reinstall the screed above it. If you don't have the plans, then you'd need to hire a thermal imaging camera, and take pictures as the floor warms up.

Yeah I have the ufh plans & photos so know where the pipes are although it stlll worries me incase i hit a pipe

There’s only one way to find out. Do let us know how you get on(photos please)..

Suggest you have a plumber on site when you get the angle grinder out!

You could pick up a cheap infra red sensor, and see if you can pick up and mark the pipework as it heats up.

His problem is going to be depth.
If its installed like (picture) then there isn't going to be anywhere to put a 15mm gas pipe plus sleeve in the floor.

He may be able to find a run where there is not a polypipe loop at the end, but it will be tricky.
Nothing like having a plan eh?
