I am hoping to get some advice regarding these aco drains adjacent to some porcelain tiles , There are 2 problems. (See photos)

Firstly the drains appear to be set slightly higher then the edge of the tiles so rain water is pooling rather then running into the drain. There is also a gap of 4-5mm (filled with brush in grout) for the water to bridge before entering the drain.

Secondly the aco drains are not all lined up at a complete downward gradient into the gully. Some water is not falling completely into the gully and stagnant in the middle of the channels.

I think the best thing to do is to take them out and reinstall all 8 meters worth.
Am I right in assuming the aco drain horizontal edge should be close to the tile edge without a gap and at least 3 mm below the tile edge so rain runs into? What would be the best way to make this as watertight as possible
What would be the best sand : cement mix to use for this?

thanks

george,
Thank you for annotating your pics, it really helps when pics are showing and telling.
Remove all the Aco drainage - knock off the "grout" - and re-set the falls to the gully.
As you propose, set them close and just below the tile edge.
If needed, a little sand & cement 3:1 mix would work.
Clean out the gulley & check that the Aco to gulley connection is correct.

Hi Ree thanks so.much for the helpful reply.
Hoping to check 2 things
1) you mention if needed use a little sand and cement. Would you suggest to put the drains in with something else?

2) have thought if moving the drains close to the tile edge there will be a 5-10 mm gap between the back drain edge and the house blue brick. What would the best way be to fill that gap?

Many thanks, George

You can bed the drain on dry stone or concrete or compacted soil.
Providing you can still connect to the gulley then move the drain to touch the house wall, & fill the gap to the tile with S&C.

Thanks for the helpful replies

So when it rains (heavily)water does enter the aco , but agree I recall the brush in grout I used was slightly permeable. Pro joint rapid flow brush in porcelain grout.

As rees advice think I need to just do the job properly I question how well the aco drain is attached to the gully as well.

Would it be best to bed with the 3:1 mix with sharp sand or building sand knowing building is less permeable.

Thanks
