100 year old terraced house has kitchen gas supply in far corner and BG boiler is situated there. Previous owner had a free standing old-type gas cooker in the same corner due to proximity to gas tap connector which emerges from the concrete floor. This is clearly no use for a modern cooking arrangement, and probably in breach of any number of building regs;)
I propose installing a new gas hob/oven centrally in kitchen units on the opposite long wall. How can a gas supply be routed to this position, as the floor is concrete, and the existing pipe must have been buried in an unknown position. I had thought of angle-grinding a shallow channel for locating an extension pipe to the new cooker, but the thought of accidentally hitting the existing gas pipe is beyond dangerous.
I'm thinking of hiring a professional gas engineer to run a new pipe from the gas entry/meter point to the new position. I'm also thinking this will be expensive, possible very expensive*:( Around 7m of straight above floor piping from the hallway to the kitchen would do it. Any pro's estimates/better ideas would be welcome.
*I remember the Gas people quoting me £870 to move the gas meter 10 cms to clear a new door. I bought a smaller door.:)

I'm afraid your "proposal" is a non starter, you need to hire a professional to do the job not just "think" about it. But possibly you prefer the chance of killing yourself, your family & blowing up half the street where you live.

Harsh...but your point is well made - and taken.
So, what do you think I should earmark for this professional work, before I start selecting kitchen units etc. from what is left of my budget?
In round numbers, ball park figures. Just so I don't think I'm being ripped off.
Hundreds? 1k? 2k?
What?

Get 3 estimates from Gas Safe registered installers, it may well be more expensive where you live than up here in the sticks.I doubt anyone will give you a price without seeing the job.
