Re routing soil pipe

Hi,

can anyone advise please?

I am re-doing my bathroom and need to change the location of the loo.

I live in a 10 year old bungalow with a concrete floor, I want to move the loo about 2 metres to the other side of the room.

I obviously need to break through the concrete (and re-bar) to route from the old to the new location.

Is there any strucural issue with this, and what is the best way to re-instate the damp proofing once I am done. any ideas?

External wall? where is the drainage run in relation to the room? You could possibly go through the wall into soil pipe, fill old hole with concrete.

The existing toilet is about 1.5 metres from the external wall, on an internal wall, the room is 2 metres wide and i want to put the new toilet on the opposite wall, i didn't want to dig through the foundations to create a new route but rather pick-up the existing.

Your main concerns will be pipe direction and fall.

Should the new toilet position mean having a bend in the run then this could potentially cause problems.

Extending the run by another two metres will require an additional 50mm of fall.

So, provided that the new toilet location is on a direct path from the original (i.e. no bends in the pipe) and you can get the fall required, then it is a case of patching the floor with membrane and insulation to suit.

Granted, the floor may not be as 'intact' as it once was but i could live with that.

What makes you think there is re-bar in the floor slab? Are there issues with the subsoil?

Have you considered a Saniflo Macerator. New quiet model on market now 1001. Will solve all your problems.

Yep, understand about bends and fall, and using a slow bend, think I can get away with it. A decent fall exists from the existing toilet to the manhole, just outside that room's window.

I have done other work and have a video of the house build, so I know re-bar is there, don't know why, as we are on hard chalk.

I really wanted to understand about structual and damp, and you have helped a lot thanks.

No, not considered a macerator, but will take a look, good idea thanks
