Complete noob here!
We have a garden room that is in need of re-varnishing. We have no idea what was previously used on it as the garden room was there when we moved in. If I was guessing, they have used a coloured varnish on top of the cladding but when I looked online (and at Homebase), almost every varnish is clear rather than stained. I'm guessing that's because most people first stain the wood and then add varnish now a days (maybe that's even the case with my garden room but how could I tell?). So I'm kind of flummoxed as how to proceed. Ideally we want the same colour again and I had assumed that I could give the existing coat a light sand and then apply some coloured varnish.
See the attached photos. The colour realism is better in the photo that is not a close up. In the close up it looks a bit darker than it really is.
Any recommendations on how to proceed?
