Hi, very quick question. I have a light fitting which needed to be replaced. Took it out today making note of all connections etc but had a family emergency which meant I could not put the new fitting up. It's now dark and we have no lights, rather than fiddling in the dark is it safe just to wire the lot into a junction box til the morning and deal with it then? It is too fiddly to try to rewire the rose in the dark.

Please say yes, otherwise I have a tiring evening with a torch in my mouth ahead.

Quick answer to a quick question: Yes.

Make the connections safe (connected in a jb how they were in the fitting) then you can reinstate the power.

Thank you thank you thank you. I presume therefore that I just treat the banded neutral as live and everything else is the colour it is?

The "banded neutral" is not a neutral. It happens to be a black with a red marker (or blue with brown marker). It is the switchwire.

Yes, the reds (or browns) are the live loop, the blacks (or blues) are the neutrals & the g/y's the cpc's.
