We are currently buying a house which has had the chimney breasts removed on the ground floor but have been left in place on the first floor and through to the roof, rather than supporting them we would like to rebuild the chimney breasts in the ground floor rooms, does anyone have any idea of the cost of this, and also can we just build the chimney breast without the flues etc inside as we are not planning on having them are working fireplaces, they are purely for decorative purposes (and to support the ones above). Any advice would be appreciated - thanks.

Best to check with BCO to see if the work has been approved by them in the first place, if not the owner would have to put it right before selling it on.
