Recommend an air filter?

I need to replace my air filter - I suspect it's causing my fuel economy to drop. What I would like is a non-disposable one, that is guaranteed for many miles and that I can clean periodically. I'm driving a 2005 Toyota Matrix. Any recommendations?

not sure of the market in america but k&n filters are generally the among the top of the list in the uk

My recommendation would be to stick with the one recommended by the manufacturer.
