Hi

Hope I'm not repeating an earlier thread.

I'm looking for a wireless burglar alarm to install myself - would love one that texts me when it goes off.

Does anyone have any experiences (good or bad!) of installing these?

Visonic Powermax.

It calls you not texts, texts can sometimes not get through.

Don't forget the Yale premium system.
It doesn't text of course but rather calls your phone with a message.

Superior in my view as you can miss hearing a text arrive and by the time you check your inbox its too late.

Easier to install than the powermax as you don't need to fit a fused spur.

and in answer to your question only good experience fitting them.

It's still too late if you're in Cornwall and your alarm is in York.

... and that comment was relevant because?

Mind you if I were to use my COMMON SENSE if I got a call in Cornwall from my intruded home in York I would telephone one of my neighbours who had agreed to watch my property.

Visonic Powermax IS GRADED G2, FITTED BY A PLUG.

When your more able to understand regulations feel free to comment.
Always fit a spur myself.

Time you stopped making comments you cannot back up.

Time you stopped trolling Alarm you are looking desperate now.
Whats all this guff about comments I cannot back up.
Is that a threat?
What have regulations got to do with someone wanting to fit a 'DIY' alarm.
Even if they fit G2 it won't be covered by ACPO or Insurance as you know.

Trolling?

You gave inaccurate advice, nothing more nothing less.
You were corrected.

The panel is graded, so if the OP called in a company proved where the panel came from it could be used to have Police responce.

Unlike a Yale.

Or would you care to argue that FACT too.

Also where was a threat issued?
I only stated you do not know what your on about on this issue.
Which is true is it not?

Bit of a red herring really. Just your opinion and based on a somewhat false argument.

Sorry, but you seem to be simply selling a product.
The Visonic plugs in, same as Yale, so how can it be different?
Visonic kit comes pre set. How easy can it get?

If a call is made by landline then its instant providing of course the landine is working correctly.
When a text is sent then there are possible delays or dropouts due to signal coverage or congestion at the provider. (ever tried texting on new years night?)

Ok Alarm , answer this connundrum.
I asume using the name Alarm and spouting as you do you are an NSI silver or gold installer. I assume you are a professional installer and that you use graded equipment.

Lets just assume you rock up to a 2 bed townhouse and to fit an alarm.

Lets assume that you put in a graded panel and install two door contacts and two pirs and an external sounder. Lets also assume you put in and endstation and remote keypad and you possibly add a couple of fobs.
In my experience you will have charged around £400 - £600 for that installation and signed the homeowner up to a yearly service of around £65 plus vat.

OK so far?

Lets also assume over the road the owner pops down to the shops and finds a Yale alarm. 6200 basic system , Two pirs , two contacts , keypad and external sounder he has paid around £140 for it and he can fit it himself if he has a ladder. He doesn't have a requirement to have it serviced but he can keep it in proper working condition by changing all the batteries every two years at a cost of around £16 so his yearly cost only amount to £8.

Now lets just say that one night both the alarms go off.
Lets also say that a neighbour rings up and tells the police two alarms have gone off.

Which alarm will the Police repsond to?

I can answer that for you NEITHER!

The police will NOT respond to a call merely stating that an alarm is sounding.

Ok lets say that the neighbour has good eyesight and that he has called the police and he can see that in both these homes there appears to be some evidence of a break in.

So which alarm or home do the police respond to now?

Let me answer that for you . . . . BOTH!

Do the Police at their end have any idea when an alarm call comes in from a report on an unmonitored alarm who fitted the system or whether it is graded equipment?

Let me answer again for you . . . . NO!

The Police have NO IDEA of the type of installation or grade or even if its a total lash up using a two bits of wire a clothes peg and a battery and sounder.

So they will respond to all systems EXACTLY the same.

Here endeth the lesson.

You know full well that if you fitted a visonic to NSI standards for insurance approval there is no way the insurance company would accept the alarm plugged into a socket.

You do actually understand the regs yourself don't you?

Sorry, but you seem to be simply selling a product.
The words "nail, hit, the, on, head, the" come to mind

You're right, won't give link as advertising.

Not selling as I don't 'sell' the product , no margin in that.

I only come on here to battle the constant aspersions against the product MADE by people like YOURSELF Europlex who fit professional alarms and continually put down the product.

and when we are hitting nails on heads lets bang the one in your head that means YOU have a vested interest in denigrating Yale alarms.
