then how the heck are you going to find the meter when we dont know where to find any wiresI disagree - the meter will have a number so will assist the DNO identify the location and any darter on it.
Without that then probably not much info readily available and the actual location might not be obvious anyhow.

Well no, not if you get a new meter.The meter is irelevent. its if there is an electrical power source or not

Imperial electricity won't go through a new metric meter - it's the wrong size.
When you contact the DNO, ask them to quote you for a modern meter and an imperial one if they still have any. If not, I believe a smart meter will work, but make sure to tell them you'll need the imperial firmware flashed onto it.
