Anybody got any advice/experience on re-using bricks.

I'm replacing a wall at the front of my house as the pointing is virtually gone and would like to re-use the original bricks. They're generally in good condition but I'm wondering if it's possible and if so, whether it would be worth the time and effort.

why not just repoint it????

i never clean off bricks for a garden wall, you could have the new brick wall built by the time you've cleaned the old bricks off

it jut takes a bit of time and patience. If they are nice old bricks then i'd say keep them. if there modern metric red brick dont waste your time.

Or if you are in no hurry and want to save a few quid just buy yourself a brick hammer and get cracking.

Old reclaimed brick now can fetch quite a price i have heard as much as £1 each quoted with £3 or more each for specials, so we use wet days on site for cleaning them.
