I'm painting a galvanised chassis and was wondering if it's possible to apply red oxide by air compressor... it took me 5 hours to do the first coat yesterday and as we have a compressor sitting in the garage, I'd love to be able to use it!!

Maybe..it depends on how powerful you compressor is really.

And red oxide wouldnt be my first choice on galve..either zinc phosphate ot calcium plumbate (is that still available????)

if youve put it straight onto galv, it'll peel off.
The galvanising needs treating with Serenewash (company in Burgess Hill, sussex supplies it) before painting.
Fine to spray red oxide though

Or "Mordant Mixture"...turns the galvanising black and etches it ready for primer/undercoat.

Think it's all the same stuff, but serenewash is made local to me so thats what we use

Or passivating wash........

Anymore for anymore? :D
