Reducing cistern height

I'm fitting a back-to-wall toilet with concealed cistern. The vertical section of the pipe supplied with the cistern is 160mm. I would ideally like to shorten this to 90mm thus reducing the height difference between cistern and toilet. Is this likely to affect the efficiency of the flush? (I'm fastening the cistern directly to a stone wall so I'm not constrained by a frame).

Thanks
Alan

A couple of consealed cisterns I've fitted have specified the the water level height in the instructions
This just says "Cut the flush pipe to the required length", but that probably just means the horizontal section as it says length and not height.
