I have a veneer dining table the surface of which has seen better days, and I'd like to give it a bit of a spruce up. In particular there are quite a few white marks, and the middle section (which obviously wasn't used much by the previous owner) is a completely different colour. I've attached a couple of pictures so you can see what I mean.

I should say that I don't need or want it to look absolutely perfect, just a bit better than it does at the moment!

Can anybody offer some advice on how to go about this? I'm particularly worried about the fact that it's veneer, so sanding may not be an option. Google isn't helping me much!

    Any advice appreciated... :D

When posting click on show my pics and select to add to post.
You can use a hot iron over tissue on white marks, it evapourates the trapped mositure and the tissue soaks it up anmd prevents burning, keep iron moving.
Fine wire wool overthe top clean off with white spirit [don't clean with water].Then apply a coat or two of danish oil or top oil.

Go easy on the clean, veneer look worn very thin.

ok will do. Stupid question but do you mean wire wool first and then white spirit, or do you mean apply the white spirit with wire wool?

What about using a specialist finish stripper?

Dampen wire wool with white spirit and also use it to clean off wire fragments.
Does not look like you have any finish left to strip.
