Hi, I recently bought a small second hand wooden table and the top is missing a part of the veneer right in the middle. I'm not sure what to do about it. Should I sand the whole top down to remove all the veneer? If so, what do I then replace it with? It isn't great wood underneath the veneer so can't leave it. Or is there another option? Thanks.

For sure, that's a bit of a headache, that one.....it is possible to re veneer the whole top but almost impossible to splice a patch in - very much a professional requirement either way which means considerable expense.
It looks like elm, and any colour would be very difficult to match.

Not something I would have paid money for, seen better down the tip , but you could use a contrasting circle of veneer to make a ‘ feature’ of the fault .
