Hypocrisy aside, I'm not to fussed about MP's and staff etc, getting a leg up, as long as they put the effort in.
I'd rather they were paid a wee bit more, if only to focus their efforts on MP-ing, rather than self enrichment.
I'd also like to see paid lobbying ok'd as long as it is scrutinised, transparent and declared. And the results of said lobbying is for the good of the constituents, and not to line their own pockets.
I'm not a fan of all that entrapment shoite, when MP's are set up by a journalist.

This is true. Nigel was asked about it on one of the political tv progs. The teenager is in control of a budget of a few hundred million. I think the rationale is, because he won't have the required experience, put a few folk around him who can advise/consult.

Mind you, regardless of age, it can be asserted council leaders of all ages have presided over budgetary disasters.

That sounds a bit of a rubbish solution. And anti-democratic. Don't they have anyone more suitable. There must be loads of Reform councillors if they are the largest party.

We don't know what the role involves, so it is impossible to say. He says if the expenses aren't increased then only wealthy people could become mayor. That seems plausible. But more information is required.
