Reform Policies

, British nationals and others are leaving the UK in growing numbers.
not really -certainly nothing like the huge drop in immigration from 2024 onwards

emigration has been fairly similar since 2022, just growing slightly -a trend that began before Labour got in office

overall net Uk national net migration has dropped

Immigration was 900,000, British nationals and others are leaving the UK in growing numbers.
Lots of Brits are saying sod this and leaving - usually the skilled, wealthy talented ones we need.

The number of British nationals leaving (and coming back) seems to be pretty steady. A net loss of around 100,000 per year. The big spike mentioned in the newspaper headlines seems to be due to a change in methodology. Apparently, it has been known for many years that the old system was undercounting both figures, so there is a new system with figures since 2021.

Wrong, that's net migration.

Lots of Brits are saying sod this and leaving - usually the skilled, wealthy talented ones we need.

The Boris wave has ended and inevitably some of them are returning, either as it was temporary or because things didn't work out, as is normal.

Labour have done nothing to reduce immigration. Some words have been said, nothing has happened and probably won't ever because the party will block it.

Don't believe a word Starmer says, he lies very convincingly because he's a very skilled liar.

no, thats hardly increased since Labour took office

that is just false

Labour policies are making immigration more difficult

Ivor cant handle facts

I might have mistunderstood. Rather than so many young people leaving the UK for better things, I had assumed that it was the rich who have taken their money out of the country to better places. In either case, I can understand that many people are leaving the UK, especially since Labour took over.

'New method', 'Old method',
You know, that immediately suggests to me that the 'rules' have been changed, by Labour of course, to make themselves look better!

That's understandable. But the change actually got them a lot of bad press, because the opposition and their media chums deliberately distorted the new figures to highlight the supposed 'increase'. If the methodology had remained the same, there would have been no story for you to be upset about.

As there's a step change like that from changing methodology then all debate about higher or lower is pointless.

The ONS has also started massivly revising previous months' data for other economic stats. You can't believe anything any more.

No, my lack of reply results from doing work, earning a living and paying taxes.

You should try it one day. After 2029 you'll be forced to, whether you want to or not. Perhaps this could explain your fear of Reform.

The success of other parties in the local elections is a key metric for the failure of the Labour leadership. Their fate rests on these results. Many Labour MPs are giving Starmer until the locals before deciding if he should stay or go.
Are they ?

Really ?
