I get a lot of noise from the neighbours upstairs who have laminate floor. I don't think there is any sound proof underlay used or if so then very poor/cheap type. Assuming it is click flooring could anyone suggest how big a job it would be to take it up and lay better underlay and then relay the same floor? Any comments much appreciated. Andy

laminate floors are useless, invite one of them down to come and listen

I asume you live in a Flat?

If its owned, or rented, you might want to check your tenancy or freehold / leesehold agreement.

Some have small print that state that wooden floors are not allowed to be used in this kind of accomodation.

worth checking me thinks...
