relocating letterbox in wooden door

I want to move the position of my letter box - its in a solid, panel wooden door.

I'm happy in terms of cutting new slot for new position but query on filling existing hole.

Do I just use friction to keep the wood in place (and some glue) in the existing hole or should I somehow screw it in place?

That's the way to go wood glue is just as strong as screw
