Hi All,

We just moved in to a house that has a roller shutter for the garage. As it is now there is a wire with live neutral and earth coming from the roller shutter motor connected to 3 wago connectors then to a bidirectional weather proof rocker switch for up and down opening. The switch has a 3 pin mains plug that has to be connected to a socket to work the shutter.

I’d like to be able to open the shutter from outside by means of an app or fob as we don’t have to bring the bikes through the house to get to the garage.

I have seen some remote modules by Tuya on AliExpress but I’m not sure how to install them and what other items would be required to make it work.

Some thing along these lines but open to suggestions of what’s best to use and how to connect it up and any other bits I’d need to make it work such as sensors etc. I’ve seen some work on WiFi and you can download an iPhone app as the remote.

Any help welcome
Thanks

Would need to see some pictures of the door motor and inside the rocker switch to work out what's going on, something like that could likely be made to work. Another option would be something like this for app control - https://www.screwfix.com/p/shelly-p...SG5VTetZswWzzV9ZR8UO3zs-sERPoyuUaAtXSEALw_wcB
Thanks for the reply, I have added some images of it helps ? There seems to be some sort of box where someone has tried before but looks like a half done job

Ah, so you actually already have a wireless fob receiver unit, as you say it hasn't been wired in properly. The taped up wagos hanging outside an enclosure in picture 3 is also extremely ropey.
Do you have the fob lying around? I think any 433 mhz fob will do with a minimum of 3 buttons if you need to buy a replacement.

It looks like the receiver is wired into the mains, if you disconnect and reconnect with the power it should sound the buzzer briefly if it's working

Thanks for the reply, yes there seems to be a unit but no sensors connected just mains. No sound when reconnected to power either.
I don’t have a fob, but how would it work with only mains to it ?

I need to know what else is required to make it work or if I need to buy a whole new setup

Thanks again

It wouldn't work in its current iteration, but maybe the unit failed and someone has bodged it with the rocker switch poorly. What I would do is order the shelly relay I posted and fit that inside your door opener box. You can remove the PCB if it's in the way. I'd also buy a 3 amp fuse and terminal blocks (links here and here) and mount them inside the enclosure.

You will need the mains cable which you already have, the motor cable and the switch cable.

What is connected to the terminals marked "light" currently?
