I am having a through lounge done by builders in a house that I will move into in a few weeks time. The process involved supporting the floor joists by building two pillars at either end and placing the RSJ onto the padstones.

This morning I discovered that the acros supporting the RSJ were removed after only 10hours of making the pillars and placing the beam on the padstones. I have read in other threads on this forum that the recommended time is 48hours.

I want to know what are the risks and repurcussions of the builders actions?

If the only thing these pillars are supporting are floor it should be ok. theres a settlement issue but generally only with big loads i.e. masonry. A bigger worry is what are the pillars built on?

the pillars are built on the existing internal single brick load bearing wall with the foundations re-enforced with concrete underpinning with the pillars built at the same time.

The steels will be fine, no worries.

So long as there is no shear stress (sideways movement or push) and only downward force then i can't see a problem.

We have loaded masonry that has only had only 17 hrs or so to stiffen up.
