Hi Guys,

Purchased a massive decent sized towel radiator off eBay for a decent price, but it was left outside and has got a lot of speckling of rust on it, Is there a good method for taking this off?

Scrap it, buy a decent one. The chrome plating should be 3-layer (nickel, copper, chrome ? ); cheap plating omits one (or both?) of the under-layers. Chrome is porous and the steel will rust unless the 3-layers have been applied.

You can fit it, but it will rust some more.

Metal polish such as autosol will take the rust off and will leave a residue that will help prevent it rusting again.

But it shouldn't have rusted in the first place so it sounds like the plating is of poor quality and it will rust again in time. You might be polishing off the rust quite frequently if the radiator is used in a damp environment like a bathroom or has wet towel put on it to dry.
