Remove bricks above doorway

m looking to create a hallway from top of the stairs through a bedroom.can I remove the bricks above the existing doorway at top of the stairs so its flush with the ceiling.this does not seem to be a surrporting wall
Help would be much appreciated
 
Yes is it not supporting anything above it, and not stabalising the walls either side of it
 
There is only a loft above so just joist running front to back and there is a loft hatch opposite the door.its a terrace house if that helps with anything.
