tuck1s, was it an easy process to remove the horizontal 6x2 support beams away from the fink truss ?

Yes, it was pretty straightforward. There were nails horizontally into the trusses, but these knocked out easily with a few hammer taps, so I expect they were really just needed during construction, not load-bearing.
