My grandchild has dropped some money down the hole around the flexible handbrake cover. Is there an easy way to remove this cover without causing damage. The cigarette lighter is next to it. The toyota dealer want to charge me £55 for this so it's not cost effective to remove the money at that price!

Give her a handful of change and forget about it
If there are no visible screws (check under anything that looks removable, ashtray etc) then its probably a case of giving it a tug

The same thing happened to me today, I dropped a key into that handbreak hole. I took off the the back compartment and looked inside to see if could spot anything, but with out luck. I am pondering to just leave the damn thing there, but am not sure if it could have any long term effects on the car (breaks or whatever).
Is the handbreak compartment connected to any other vital sections where a key could actually do some harm. I mean after a few hundred km riding on bumping roads I think it can't be ruled out that the key will bounce around quite a bit.
