Removed trim from window and can see roof line

Hi,

I’ve had rogue traders install some double glazing and the work was awful. I’ve removed the trims from my bedroom window because I was getting some damp in the corners and I can see the roof liner as there is a 40mm gap…it doesn’t look right, what should I do?

Squirt some foam in, put the trims back on or plaster the gap.

@^woody^ the gap is very deep as I can see the roofing material. Should it be like this?

Yes that's how it is on older houses without a tray lintel above the frame.

Use expanding foam. You don't fill the whole lot, just enough to seal the gap. 50mm deep or so, let it expand down a little, let it dry and then cut it off flush ready for the trim or plaster finish.

Likewise for sides and cill if you like

@^woody^ thanks for your response. I walked up and down my street and all of the houses had a course of bricks above their

windows, it’s just my house that doesn’t? I’ve uploaded a photo of the outside to show what I mean
