Hi all,

I have had a radiator completely removed from a combi boiler pressurised system. The builder fitted 2 end caps which looked looked like the sharkbite brand. Is this strong enough to last or best to solder normal end caps on?

cheers

Those pushfit end caps are fine and good for up to 10 bar. They just look a little unsightly, could you not cut them in below the floor boards out the way?

Hi, they have been cut to beneath the floorboards.

cheers

id rather solder if going under the floor and will be forgotten.
if not compression cap ends but not pushfit.

Hi all, so do you think I should get the pipes that are now below floorboard soldered on for peace of mind or would the shark bite caps that are on at the moment do a good job for 100years to come??

Personally, I'd get soldered endcaps. Also, it's normally good practice to remove as much pipework as possible to avoid deadlegs - did your builder do this? Although not a safety problem, the extraneous pipework will be able to conduct wasted heat - although not much to be fair.

push fit and compression below teh floor are both unnaceptabe unless readily accessed.... solder em now!

If the ceiling below is plasterboard, then you can use a compression cap and always be able to access it with one of these:
