I have asked a plasterer to come in and reskim the bedroom ceiling in an alcove. It has a stipple effect, and I am supposing that this artex contains asbestos.
The plasterer has suggested removing a section of ceiling about 70 cm by 50 cm - but I am concerned that this may release asbestos into our bedroom (used by my wife, me and our 3 year old).
Is it fair to ask the plasterer (who has done some excellent work for me before) about this potential risk?
What sort of precautions should he be taking doing such a job?
This may sound like being over cautious - but I am in a bit of a paranoid state at the moment because I have only just become aware that artex contained asbestos - this after I pulled down a kitchen/dining room ceiling with the stuff plastered on it in 2009.
Currently the ceiling is cracked so, with all the above in mind, I am keen to get it fixed.
