Our house was built in 1890 - and I suspect has had a few upgrades since then. However, I don't know the full history.

I may also be posting on the wrong forum!

The bedroom is "artexed" with the old stipple effect of yesteryear. I have only recently become aware that this artex contains a trace of asbestos. We removed the kitchen ceiling downstairs (with faux wood beams, and artex) and area of about 25 square meters.

Anyway, upstairs, the artex is cracking in our bedroom. I want to get it plasterered over. However, I wonder if anyone knows what sort of plaster board may be there? Would they use AIB boards for constructing ceilings in the 50s-70s (I am guessing that is when it was done).

Many Thanks

Ady

More than likely is just standard plaster board or lathe and plaster if its older. Go into the loft and you will see the other side of the board.
