Removing cupboard under the stairs

I think that you would do well to leave well alone. The work involved would be more substantial than you may have estimated. The work would also cause various knock-on difficulties.

And for what, you remove a perfectly good original spandrel (think house price), and expose the open storage of chattels and bikes like a garden shed?

The spandrel does not always support the stairs but sometimes it does.

Abandoned any ideas to mess with the floor, but I'd still like to remove the panel if possible. Few pics of the door frame - to my entirely uneducated eye, they don't look like they'd be supporting anything.

Can anyone help / confirm / tell me otherwise?

The first pic is from the hallway, the other 4 are of each corner from inside the cupboard. All the posts seem to be part of a door frame rather than a support.
