removing down pipes

im replacing my gutters and have a couple of questions.....

how do i remove the down pipes from these 'sockets'?

they dont seem to pull or twist out

Will i have to break this mortar out in order to replace the down pipe?

1st pic does the cover not unscrew to release?

pic 2 either break the mortar away or easiest cut the pipe just above the ground and use a pipe connector.

They both will slide up when you move the gutter outlet out of the way
