if i remove the down stairs while it gets tiled do i have to cap the trap hole or can i leave it open, what do i cap it with if i do have to ..i also have a upstairs toilet does this effect anything...many thanks

good idea to cap...prevent smells and if your working in loo prevents debris falling in.....shouldn't be a problem with upstairs loo flushing. You can buy caps that push fit to close off or use plastic bag stuffed with newspaper.....your choice
just place a carrier bag over the hole and tape it.
