I recently had a new boiler installed (a Worcester Greenstar 30CDi) and the installer merely installed the mechanical timing programmer. At the time, he told my girlfriend that the old thermostat was now no longer connected. I now want to remove the thermostat from the wall, and want to know whether there is likely to be power going to the thermostat or whether it drew power from the old boiler and hence is dead?

There is no way of knowing the answer if you do not have the equipment and knowlege to test for electrical safety get some one in to confirm it is disconnected before touching it!!

installer shoud have either installed new room stat or connected new boiler to old room stat. if its not connected i would get it done :)
