Removing rubber sheath

Oo-err missus. That's got that out of the way.

How realistic is it to be able to strip 11m of sheath off 10mm² H05 or H07RN-F 3-core cable?
 
6 inches at a time, reem with a stripper, go down with a knife....

It ain't gonna be easy but it can be done I suppose.

But why?
 

Supply to an outbuilding, It's in a duct "buried" in gravel between a patio and a fence, so no chance of accidentally JCBing it, so it doesn't need to be armoured, and it will be easier to pull through the ducting than SWA.

Inside the house it needs to be singles as they will run in surface trunking behind kitchen units, including a 90° bend. I could join to singles at the point of entry, or I could just carry on with the cores of the cable, unbroken.

Just clip the cable don't use trunking?

And I think swa is easier to work with/ fish etc.
 
I haven't tried cable that big, but my experience with smaller flexible is that the hard part is getting going. Once you've got a good handful of cores and sheath you can just rip the sheath off.

It has to run through the trunking in places as there's no other route through walls and across a lift shaft, and in one place needs to be fished behind a partition.

On the walls where there's the 90° bend I could remove some of the trunking, or just the trunking lid, in order to accommodate the 80mm bend radius.


And I think swa is easier to work with/ fish etc.

I guess a helper can push SWA into ducting while the other end is pulled, but other than that ??

That will not comply with BS7671.

Technically the lift shaft is the frame and panelling provided by the lift manufacturer, not the building void into which that is installed, and the cables (and a gas pipe) run behind it.

Imagine how broken up I would be to find that the wiring regs count the building void as the "lift well".
