Removing slabs (walls damp), how to tidy the concrete underneath

Hi Gang,

I am hoping for some ideas and advise.

I'm pulling slabs up from the front of my house, I have found those inside walls to be mildly damp and screws and backbox are rusting. A previous owner laid these slabs directly on top of the original concrete path raising the exterior path height probably 15-20 years ago. Because of this the (heavy!) slabs have to go!

The original concrete path left behind looks mostly solid but aesthetically crumby. (this concrete is the same height as the other three houses like mine) I feel uncomfortable with the idea of removing the concrete as next doors and my gas meters are in that area.

I am wondering about laying a combination of tiles in the porch (one other home has done this) and laying a DIY resin bound kit (Sudwell?) on the concrete after doing the advised prep to adhere to the path. Knowing that will result in the path height raising by something like 15mm from that original concrete. Is this something I can do? Or should I kybosh that and be thinking about a thinner concrete resurfacer?

I am unsure how to identify the DPC on the house.

(I don't know what that green wire is either!)

I appreciate your wisdom.

Tim

Thanks.

Tim,
You show one air brick venting what must be a suspended floor - more & larger a/b's are needed.
The a/b shown is half submerged below the original concrete path.
Ground or path level should be well below any air brick - Regs suggest the ground level be 150mm below the DPC. Can you mark the position of your DPC on the wall?
The path leading to the front door appears to be level with your interior FFL not at least 150mm below it?

Why not post pics of the damp signs on the inside walls?
