Removing unwanted thick painted paper

I have textured wallpaper in the hall, which has been covered by exterier textured paint. I want to remove the lot and start again. Any ideas?

Apply a steam paint stripper and lots of patience....sooner you than me though.
 
Try scoring the surface with a knife - to break the waterproof seal of the pant covering the paper. Then soak sections with water - if necessary several times and then it should start to ease away in sections. I tried this in my hall -it took some time but it worked. To keep your sanity do a couple of sections at a time.
 
When I served my time as a painter & decorator 1958 We used a blow lamp to remove
Painted embossed papers,

I recently used a product called X-Tex Textured coatings remover..i pasted it on and left it over night. It removed the paint and softened the paper. after one more application the apper came opff with ease. There were no solvents in the product and it worked very well.
