Renault clio statup

My 53 plate Renault clio wont start!! its not responding
when I turn the ignition key, the lights on dashboard are
quite bright and the interior light is ok but the starter
is not attempting to engage, a quick check shown no
obvious fault with the battery starter connection.
would welcome any help on this as its a new one to me.

Are there any lights showing regarding the immobiliser system?
Lock the doors, then unlock and immediately try again.

Many thanks as soon as I can get transport back I will
try as you advise, it does seem as though no signal is
getting to the starter solenoid
