I was just having a debate with a renderer this morning and hoped you guys could clarify......

I've built a single skin block garage with pillars.

When it came to putting the restraint straps on for the wall plate he said that he wanted them on the inside because the material will expand and contract and crack the render - unfortunately at the front of the garage (due to door & pillar configuration), it is only really possible to get them on the outside.

The front is a 7m length of wall (with 2 doors and 3x9" pillars), so obviously necessary to get some on there....

Any thoughts?

It will depend on the elevation.

There could be some truth in it with regards to a South facing fella.

Fix some sheathing over it. ;)
