Renewals and comparison sites

A massive co incidence or somethings changed perhaps
My van insurance,landlord insurance and home insurance all up for renewal in the same few weeks.
Every renewal has come back noticeably cheaper than any of the comparison sites can manage.
Still an inrease though.

Has anyone else experienced this lately?

Have the insurers eventually realised they cant rely on blind loyalty/apathy at renewal time anymore?

Our house insurance was 100 quid up on last year's.

Comparison sites couldn't do better.

Rang them, asked if they could make it cheaper. We can knock off this that or the other, she said...

Anyone can make something cheaper by selling a lesser product!

I think the government brought in a new rule a few years ago where they have to give renewals the same deal as new customers.

There can be quite a bit of difference in the renewal sites for the same product from the same companies
Car insurance was 60 quid cheaper on the go compare site to the confused.com one same company same cover same zero excess.
Nice couple of cheques through the post today 48 quid back from simply business for 2 rentals insurances 10% back for doing 2 at same time and Their renewal price was already about 20 quid less than their price that came up on comparison sites
