Hi,

I have opened up my ceiling and found out that the load bearing wall between ground floor and first floor has been badly damage during the years to get through cable. A lot of bricks has been removed and never put back. As I`m going to remove my chimney breast and a beam will need to spread the load to the ground I believe this wall need to be fixed.

I would like any advise on how to put brick back and make sure they are in pressure and spread the load to the ground.

I will attached some photo for better explain the situation

Have you kept the (frog) bricks? Laying a single course can be tricky, especially in a tight gap. We'd be more inclined to trim some off the frog brick (ideal brick for this), affording you a greater gap in which to feed the top joint of mortar.

Cleaning the existing mortar off can be tricky as you tend to loosen more bricks. You may have to work around some of the existing mortar - again, trimming the frog bricks to suit.

I haven`t removed it and do not have old brick. I will try to use new brick and cut it short to put some mortar between them.

Pity, they would have been ideal.

I think these bricks has been put away at least 20/30 years ago when they started electrifying the house and did not care of making a small hole to get cable through but just smashed bricks.
