Repairing a kitchen worktop

We had to remove our kitchen worktop to get the cupboard out from beneath it, and in the process we cracked the worktop.

Its made of chipboard.... is there any way we can repair it to make it less noticeable and stop the chipboard stuff from coming out??

Its cracked between the cooker and the edge so its a fairly "short" crack but its broken right through the thickness of it.

if your talking the surface theres no way to repair it best you can do is disguise by covering it with a pot stand or simmilar or wax crayons in crack assuming its around 1mm

but in all honesty if its broken through it need replacing

We'd have a job to balance a pot stand between the hob and the outer edge of the worktop

Oh dear.... looks like a new worktop will be on the cards soon then

I suppose I could shove some gaffa tape over it for the time being...

you could alway dob in some pva and wipe the surface clean

it wont help or strengthen the break but it will stop the "dust "

I don't think that pva will be strong enough. Pump as much epoxy wood adhesive as you can get into the joint - or should that be jagged edges. Then put cling film over the break and clamp it as tight as you can between two pieces of wood in a horizontal plane. The cling film will stop the clamping wood being stuck to the surface. Clean up as best as you can.
