Repeat prescriptions

You clearly know your way around a gym. You'll find what works pretty quick. I was taking Naproxen at first but made a point of not doubling up with paracetamol etc. I took as little as I could. Discs often bulge over time not always some massive trauma and felt knowing when I was aggravating it was important. What shocked me was how long it takes for nerves to regenerate. I nipped a femoral root once. Hardly any pain but quad atrophy from hell for a good few months. Now I'm old my life is made of flying the settee, doritos and Heineken. Pain free!

Hospital consultant, started me on Bempedoic last week, sending a letter to my GP's. GP put it on repeat, but failed to actually approve it, so it was prescribed/sent to chemists. A quick phone call to GP, and it was sorted out, approved, and sent to chemists - 2 hours later, I collected it.

Is your Doc in Harley St lol.

I'm not really used to taking regular meds, so I end up going oh sh*t I've only got 4 days left when I do the request. The back surgeon told me not to stop the nerve block, so I will call them Monday morning.

The plus side , is I've lost 4kg, as the pain meds are appetite suppressors
What nerve suppressant are you taking?
I had the same injury about 10 years ago and for me, lots of yoga, pilates, body balance etc was essential. I absolutely, hate it, but have to do it. I know exactly how I caused the re-herniation, so this was completely avoidable

Do you know what is wrong with yours?

This is mine:

That's a bad one.
In Europe they would've done a discectomy without wasting any time.
Over here we must please the pharmaceutical industry first.
The ball is a good idea. I will look in to that. The surgeon gave me 3 options:
- do nothing it will probably heal on its own with conservative therapy
- Root ESI which I have had and it din't really work
- Micro-discectomy

Last time I rehabbed it with exercise trying not to carry heavy weights in compression. Parallel dips were pretty good, could do a set of 6 with 50kg hanging off my belt. The feeling of the traction was nice.
Had a microdiscectomy a decade ago and I rarely have back discomfort now, never pain.
Took 3 years to get fit again after losing the will to live, but that private surgeon saved my life and I'm now fitter than 20 years ago.
My advice: if you don't get better in 6 months, go for the discectomy but check who's going to open you up.
Google "NHS choice".
Did you know you can choose to be referred to any consultant of your choice in the country?

Mild bulging disc for me but, 2017 last MRI. Waiting to see clinic to see if they will put me forward for a new MRI.

I do take ibuprofen and paracetamol regularly. Not good I know.

Waiting for x-ray on knees now as they hurt a lot. I think it's because I have been over compensating when bending etc because of lower back issues.

Right knee cap feels loose when I am walking. Doc checked but all seems ok. See if x-ray pics anything up...
