Hi,
I want to replace a broken double dimmer switch with a 2 gang switch- is it possible. There is only 2 wires & earth to each dimmer module.
each dimmer module has another switch at the end of the corridor which will turn on/off the light too.
The attached photos show the original setup in photo 1, but it is a poor photo, photo 2 shows 1 dimmer setup but not the other.
Any help would be appreciated.

Tony

No, not as things are.

An idiot has used the earth wire as one of the live conductors and so left the metal face plate without an earth.

Depending on what wiring is at the lights, it might be possible to reconfigure the wiring.

An ordinary plastic switch may make this safer as a temporary measure, but that bit of wiring needs changing or altering some how - those bare wires sleeved with green and yellow sleeving are not to be used as live conductors.

We may be able to advise what you can do - or you may want to employ an electrician for this one.
