Replace old conservatory build over manhole

The conservatory company is wrong (and more than likely they know it only too well) but I too would just do it but build over the drain by the books - that is adopting all of the measures necessary as if you were doing a build over.

That said I would never build a conservatory anyway, they're rubbish.

Thank you @Deluks . There is currently a tiled floor in the existing conservatory with 0 access. I also just spoke with a conservatory company and they said as long as I use a polycarbonate roof, the conservatory is classed as a temporary structure and building regulations excempt and therefore I could simply install a double sealed manhole and don't need a build over agreement. But I cannot find any information that would confirm that. Every information I find says that if I replace the existing conservatory with a like for like, I need a build over agreement.

That's misleading. The fact of the matter is that the chamber is on a public sewer so it is water co responsibility and you need their permission to do anything to it. Conservatories are largely building reg exempt anyway.

I'm in full agreement with Deeluks: I put "repairs" in quotes in post 4 if you recall. How extensive is a repair; replace x.y,z etc?
