Hi,

We are about to redecorate our bedroom and i was going to fix the floor and lag the pipes underneath. I was also thinking of insulating the gap between bedroom floor and living room ceiling.

I was wondering what is the best method for insulating, the wooly loft stuff or the solid boards and do i need to leave a gap or put a membrane layer down?

Also if there are any electrical cables, can they be covered with insulation?

no point insulating, power cables should always be left clear of insulation,

Why bother since the heat you are talking about remains within the habitable envelope (living-room/bedroom)

Only advantage is small noise reduction.

ok cheers, so better off just insulating the pipes and I was going to put down some new floor boards, think of chipboard for cheapness just trying to plan it correctly for sizes.
