Hi all,

I need to replace my hot water cilinder switch. Do i need one with a fuse or can i use a normal unfused one? Currently i have one with a red led light but i do not think it is fused.
Thanks!

That is fine, assuming the circuit for the hot water is dedicated to the heater with not more than a 20amp MCB/fuse in the consumer unit.

Either way the immersion will only be 13A - See section 433.

But it isn't recommended to use a fused version unless you need to as the fuses tend to run hot and cook the switch.

If you are replacing a burnt out switch make sure you cut back all the heat damaged copper or it will burn out again. And make sure all the connections are secure.

Buy a decent switch as well such as Crabtree or MK.
